position and posession: speaking about god

Monday, 28 August 2006 Leave a comment Go to comments

i am currently thinking about the relationship of position and posession as it relates to my ability to speak about god.  in many ways, position and posession are related in that both position and posession influence our social location, ethics, ways in which we make distinction, and the list could go on.  my point, you ask?  well, as i find myself and begin to reclaim my identity as a theologian working at starbucks, i am seeing some of the intersections of life that may pose a challenge to speak about god.

there are competing cultures in the world presently, and position and posession can have the influencing power by creating the illusion or shroud that can potentially destroy our own attempts to speak about god.  so…now i must think about how christian theology contributes to the framework/creates the framework of honest god-talk that critically examines position and posession for the the enjoyment/glory of god!

more later!
