Calendaring

Mark your calendars.

IL (Information/Legislation) Day

Once again Project IRENE will be offering this day to update people on current Illinois issues affecting women and children.  After a working lunch, participants will go to the Capitol in the afternoon.  If you wish to have a meeting with your Illinois senator and/or Illinois representative, you might want to make an appointment in advance.  Be sure to make the appointment for the afternoon as the education session is in the morning.  More details and a registration form will follow.  Save the date now!

ICIRR (Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights) Legislative Action Days

Join hundreds of immigrants and refugee leaders at the Capitol.  Save the dates.

Identifying Victims of Human Trafficking

Some of you are already calling the toll free multi-lingual National Human Trafficking Resource Center at 1 888 3737-888 when you suspect a human trafficking situation.  In a recent Rescue and Restore Alert, these clues were given that might indicate the occurrence of human trafficking.  These include:

–Evidence of being controlled or “managed” by third parties

–No English language facility

–Inability to leave a job or a residence

–Physical signs of battering

–Tearfulness or signs of depression

–Lacking passport, immigration or other identification documents

–Inability to articulate where they are living or remember addresses.

Thank you for your participation with Project IRENE.  Together we do make a difference.
