red carpets

Typically, I’m not interested in the conversation that is happening on the red carpet for award shows.  Today, however, I’m actually sitting down for some down time and its on the tube.  I’m casually watching the TV.  I’m not so much listening to the conversation, but I am aware of how white [as in people] things are.  And there in the purple suit, I see a man who is some big-wig from Vogue Magazine.  They’ve just announced Lisa Ling–she’s interviewing lots of white folks.  With the consolidation of media, my question is:  Why does the Red Carpet seem to paint a canvass of whiteness?
