deaths at VA Tech & the social construction of gender

Though originally described as a domestic dispute, I now wonder what is really known about the shooting that occured at VA Tech yesterday.  There are 33 people dead today as a result of the shooting.  But, what is unknown is whether this emerged out of intimate partner violence?

Women and children are the majority of victims of intimate partner violence–the number rises each and every day.  I hope that we can begin to look at how we are socializing our little boys and little girls as well as taking a critical look at the socialization of masculinities and feminities so that we, as a world-wide community, might be able to pursue peace and justice.
